ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

QHS seeks a proven philanthropic leader to serve as its next Vice President, Chief Philanthropy Officer to continue in the mission of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to advance the health and well-being of Hawai’i. As a member of the management committee, this leader will be accountable for transforming QHS’ philanthropic strategy and implementing it across the organization, mobilizing support for investments that will impact generations to come.

The Vice President, Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) will lead the transformation of philanthropic engagement at QHS, building an innovative and high-performing resource development program that moves beyond traditional models of healthcare fundraising. The CPO will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure major and planned gifts, grow endowment support, cultivate high-impact donor relationships, and leverage strategic grant opportunities. In addition to driving revenue generation, the CPO will play a vital role in integrating philanthropy into QHS’s overall strategy, fostering internal alignment, and stewarding external partnerships to elevate the organization’s impact across the state.

Operationally, the role includes oversight of QHS-affiliated entities, ensuring excellence in regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, organizational planning, and team leadership. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of securing transformational gifts, leading large-scale fundraising programs, and aligning philanthropy with mission-driven healthcare innovation. A deep appreciation for Hawai’i’s unique culture and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders with respect and authenticity are essential.

Target Annual Salary: $250,000 – $350,000
