About the Role:
We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to support the design and development of a responsive, accessible, and culturally significant website for a municipal web project. The ideal candidate will combine creativity with a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and responsive web best practices.
As the UI/UX Designer, you will collaborate with developers, content strategists, and city stakeholders to translate historical and community-focused content into an intuitive and visually engaging user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Design engaging, user-friendly interfaces across web and mobile platforms
Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and visual design assets
Translate project goals and community input into clean, responsive designs
Ensure ADA/WCAG 2.1 compliance and cross-browser compatibility
Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless implementation
Conduct user research and usability testing to guide iterative improvements
Maintain brand consistency and support content organization and visual storytelling
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in UI/UX design for websites or web applications
Proficient in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or InVision
Solid understanding of responsive design and mobile-first frameworks
Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG 2.1)
Strong portfolio showcasing relevant web/UI projects
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on government, nonprofit, or community-focused websites
Familiarity with basic front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
Background in visual storytelling or cultural/historical design work
