Truck Helper & Sorting Room Worker Jobs in Holly Hill, FL at THE SALVATION ARMY A GEORGIA CORP
Schedule/Hours: M– F 10:00a.m.– 3.30p.m. (29 hours per week)
This position is responsible for:
Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards.
Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rides in Salvation Army Truck on scheduled route in order to pick-up donation items; assist in navigating driver to destination by reading amp or written directions
- Inspect donations items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explain policy to customers regarding type of items that cam be accepted
- Lifts carries and or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage and ensure safety.
- Hang clothing on hanger and place same clothes on rack
- Pack items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain warehouse area in a neat and order manner; clean floors, tables, and work areas.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or handwritten instructions
- Abilit to determine the condition of the items in accordance to established standards
- Ability to speak English language
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Moderate mobility: Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same
EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE: No formal education or experience required and six months of experience lifting and hauling heavy items or any combination of training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities.
