Territory Vice President, East Jobs in Remote at American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an accomplished Territory Vice President (TVP) to provide strategic leadership for our East Territory. The TVP is responsible for building high performing markets by developing Executive Directors, strengthening organizational performance, and driving sustainable revenue growth and mission impact across the territory.
This leader coaches and develops Executive Directors, establishes clear priorities and accountability, and partners across the organization to ensure every market has the people, strategy, volunteer leadership, and resources needed to achieve exceptional results.
Candidates must reside in a state within the assigned territory or in reasonable proximity to support frequent travel throughout the territory.
Responsibilities
Market Leadership & Performance
- Provide strategic leadership and coaching to Executive Directors, helping them assess market performance, establish priorities, develop business plans, and execute strategies that strengthen long term market success.
- Establish a strategic vision for the territory that aligns with the Association’s national priorities while recognizing the unique opportunities within each market.
- Lead regular business reviews using performance metrics to evaluate progress, identify opportunities, remove barriers, and drive continuous improvement.
- Foster collaboration across markets and national teams to maximize mission impact, fundraising performance, and organizational effectiveness.
- Partner with Field Campaign leadership to achieve ambitious and sustainable revenue goals.
People & Culture
- Build a culture of accountability, engagement, coaching, and high performance across the territory.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain exceptional Executive Directors and senior leaders.
- Create an environment where leaders are empowered to grow, innovate, and achieve their full potential.
- Serve as a visible role model for the Association’s values and leadership expectations.
- Align staffing resources to optimize performance and organizational effectiveness.
- Ensure staff receive the coaching, training, and professional development needed for continued success.
Volunteer Leadership & Community Engagement
- Recruit, develop, and engage influential volunteer leaders who strengthen governance, fundraising, and community impact.
- Partner with Community Leadership Boards, campaign leadership, and key volunteers to expand the Association’s reach and effectiveness throughout the territory.
- Foster strong relationships with volunteer leaders that create long term engagement and sustainable community leadership.
Revenue Growth & Development
- Translate strategic business plans into measurable fundraising strategies that achieve and exceed revenue goals.
- Drive performance across all revenue streams, including peer-to-peer fundraising, corporate partnerships, individual and major giving, foundations, retail campaigns, and emerging opportunities.
- Partner with Executive Directors to identify, qualify, and advance major gift opportunities while strengthening the territory’s overall donor pipeline.
- Build a relationship centered fundraising culture that deepens donor engagement, strengthens stewardship, and increases long term philanthropic investment.
- Develop, manage, and steward high value relationships with corporate partners, donors, foundations, and community leaders to maximize mission impact and financial support.
- Ensure signature fundraising events consistently deliver exceptional participant experiences, strong financial performance, and meaningful mission impact.
Business Development & Financial Management
- Identify and evaluate innovative fundraising and partnership opportunities that can be scaled across the territory and organization.
- Develop and manage the territory budget, monitor financial performance, and provide accurate forecasting.
- Ensure disciplined financial management and operational excellence throughout the territory.
- Leverage the ADA brand, mission, and campaigns to increase community engagement, philanthropic investment, and organizational visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred or equivalent leadership experience.
- Ten or more years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience with demonstrated success leading complex, multi market organizations.
- Proven success developing high performing leaders and building accountable, engaged teams.
- Demonstrated record of achieving significant fundraising growth across multiple revenue streams.
- Experience leading large scale fundraising events with seven figure revenue responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to coach senior leaders, drive organizational performance, and lead geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong strategic planning, financial management, and business planning skills.
- Experience building and sustaining meaningful relationships with volunteers, donors, corporate partners, and community leaders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and performance metrics to guide decision making.
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead through change while maintaining focus on execution and results.
- Ability to travel extensively and work evenings and weekends as needed.
