Purpose of Classification:

Thepurposeof this classification is to plan, coordinate, and deliver publiceducationand training programs for schools, neighborhood and community organizations, businesses, and the general public.

Essential Functions:

Plans, organizes, and develops educational programming in assigned specialty; researches and develops curricula and presentations; prepares activities and audiovisual materials; secures locations and dates for programs; coordinates and schedules programs with participants; and sets-up for programs.

Delivers educational programs; conducts training andeducationprograms in a variety of settings and for a variety of audiences, to include students, teachers, volunteer groups, neighborhood and community organizations, businesses, other County staff, and the general public; facilitates tours, workshops, contests, and special events; and responds to inquiries and follow-up questions related to educational topics.

Solicits and coordinates volunteers; explains and promotes volunteer programs; solicits volunteers; and schedules, trains, and assists volunteers in completing volunteer assignments.

Tracks educational program data; compiles data related to program participation, costs, and effectiveness in achieving desired objectives; conducts surveys to collect participant feedback; and prepares related reports.

Researches and stays abreast of changes in the assigned field/specialty.

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated time frames and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, reports, or forms; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or returns documentation as necessary.

Communicates with department staff, supervisor, other employees, schools, community groups, volunteers, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Computer Science, or a field of study directly related to the departmental mission required; three years of experience in training, communications, or a related field; or any equivalent combination ofeducation, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required:Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Teen Tech Center Specialist Job Duties:

Provide community outreach to involve adiversegroup of young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders in the program.

Help Teen Tech Center members develop projects (e.g., help them come up with ideas, gather materials, get started, locate mentors to work with them, support their ongoing work).

Support youth in planning for the future, including pursuing academic and job opportunities that leverage their Teen Tech Center skills and experience.

Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, trouble-shooting, and technical support to Teen Tech Center youth and mentors.

Provide administrative support for the program, including keeping records of participants and keeping the Teen Tech Center space organized.
