Teaching Artist: Performance and Visual Arts Jobs in Long Beach, CA at Dramatic Results
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Compensation: Starting at $33/hr for instructional hours (dependent on experience), $28/hr for non-instructional hours (i.e., training, meetings, development, and planning)
Growth Opportunities: All Teaching Artists complete their first residency as Junior Teaching Artists. Once eligible for a performance evaluation, opportunities for instructional rate pay increases or advancement to Senior Teaching Artist (hourly pay starting at $41/hr for instructional time) other paid opportunities become available, based on available funding and organizational need.
Availability and Scheduling: Teaching Artists must be able to commit 1-3 days per week for the duration of each residency (typically 10-12 weeks). Residencies for the 2026-27 academic year are anticipated to begin in September and run through June; specific residencies have not yet been scheduled and are subject to program funding and school partnerships. Hours vary by placement and generally fall between 7:00 am-3:00 pm during the school day, or after school until 6:00 pm. Scheduled days and hours may change based on program funding and organizational needs.
Location: Residencies located in Walnut Valley Unified School District and Long Beach Unified School District.
Trainings and staff meetings occur virtually or at the Dramatic Results® office at 3310 Lime Avenue, Signal Hill, based on organizational need. All employees are required to complete training to be eligible for the upcoming residencies.

About Us: Dramatic Results is a non-profit arts education agency that focuses on serving students of the global majority, particularly in Title I elementary and middle schools throughout LA County. The agency specializes in arts integration, human centered design, social and emotional learning competencies, and project-based curricula that are aligned to state and national standards.
About This Position: We seek collaborative Teaching Artists in visual arts, theater, and performance who integrate Visual and Performing Arts (dance, media, music, theater), Social and Emotional Learning , with English Language Arts or STEM (science, technology, engineering, math). Teaching Artists will be trained in a human-centered design framework to design and facilitate learning experiences that center learners’ voices, lived experiences, and community context.
Responsibilities:
- Create learning spaces where all students can fully participate and adjust your approach when you notice barriers to access or belonging.
- Facilitate established Dramatic Results® curriculum for programming with stakeholders (i.e., students, educators, community leaders) from public schools, including Title I schools, libraries, community-based organizations, and various other locations.
- Use human-centered design and 21st-century skills (collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking) to lead programming.
- Develop culturally relevant resources to engage students
- Be able to co-design a weekly lesson plan based on curriculum
- Be ready with materials and lesson agenda for program delivery
- Work directly with a co-teacher to conduct and plan in-person and virtual workshops
- Demonstrate mindfulness when working with students and educators
- Be accountable for paperwork, scheduling, and meeting deadlines
- Including responsive communication and submission of paperwork (i.e., timesheets, residency acceptance, and surveys)
- Schedule planning time during Dramatic Results working hours
- Complete professional development opportunities through Dramatic Results®
- Engage in building a professional relationship with a primary contact per site
- Demonstrates willingness to develop learning content with Dramatic Results®
Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience delivering arts-integrated curriculum in a structured learning environment (K-8); this includes using art to teach science, math, or language arts
- Strong facilitation and classroom management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Comfortable using office computer programs such as Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, and Slack
- Cell phone available for use during work hours and a computer for work-related tasks
- Access to reliable internet
- Access to reliable transportation to and from the Dramatic Results® office and our partner schools. Locations include but are not limited to Long Beach, Diamond Bar, and Los Angeles
- Able to adhere to agency and school district hiring mandates
