Our Spring Internship offers immersive experience in public accounting, giving students the opportunity to apply their education in a real-world setting. As a TaxIntern, you’ll work full-time during tax busy season (January–April 15), gaining valuable experience in preparing Forms 1040 and 1099. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, build essential skills, and gain insight into what it’s like to launch a successful career in public accounting.

Learning Objectives

Obtain a basic understanding of trial balance, general ledger, tax preparation, depreciation, and amortization software used by the Tax department.

Calculate and prepare fixed asset depreciation schedules on different book and tax bases.

Learn to input client’s working trial balance into software and adjust.

Manage time invested in engagements wisely, including sensitivity to budget constraints and maintaining an accurate work-in-progress schedule of work assigned.

Prepare 1099s and 1040 individual tax returns

Learn to cope with the demanding multi-tasking nature of public accounting.

Learn to practice basic preparation skills for federal and state tax returns.

Requirements

Junior or Senior undergrad or enrolled in Master’s program

Students must be declared Accounting majors or enrolled in a degree program that meets the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam (120 credit hours) and work toward completing the 150 credit hours required for CPA licensure

Our preference is for candidates who can work 30+ hours/week and additional hours between March 1 and April 15

Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desire to learn to learn and meet new challenges
