Superintendent
We are seeking an ideal candidate to serve as Township Superintendent.
The Township Superintendent serves as the chief administrative officer, responsible for leading and coordinating all Township operations in alignment with the policies and direction of the Township Board. This role provides strategic and administrative leadership, implements Board decisions, and ensures efficient delivery of municipal services. Key responsibilities include developing and managing the Township’s annual budget and overseeing all departments and personnel. The Superintendent administers contracts, ensures legal compliance, and oversees the management of infrastructure, facilities, and Township assets. The position plays a vital role in community and economic development, representing the Township in intergovernmental matters and fostering positive relationships with residents, businesses, and partner organizations. As the primary liaison to the Township Board, legal counsel, consultants, and public agencies, the Superintendent promotes transparency, public engagement, and responsive governance. The role also includes emergency preparedness and crisis response efforts to ensure the safety and continuity of Township operations in coordination with fire chief.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage daily township operations in accordance with Township Board policies and Michigan law.
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Township Board on administrative, financial, and operational matters.
- Supervise and evaluate department heads and administrative staff.
- Prepare and administer the annual budget; monitor revenues and expenditures; ensure sound fiscal management.
- Assist with labor relations, collective bargaining, and contract administration in coordination with HR Manager and legal counsel.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations affecting township operations.
- Represent the Township in intergovernmental matters and community engagements.
- Oversee contracts, capital projects, and major initiatives approved by the Board.
