Summer Farm Camp Counselor Jobs in Watsonville, CA at Farm Discovery at Live Earth

Job Description: Summer Farm Camp Counselors will lead groups of children in educational, farm-based, culinary and art activities. Summer Farm Camp Counselors will help maintain the educational garden and fields, kitchen classroom and other facilities. Fieldwork will include weeding, planting, harvesting, animal chores and other farming and gardening activities. Facility maintenance will include sweeping, washing dishes, wiping surfaces, organizing art supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen. Summer Farm Camp Counselors work with and lead teen Leader’s in Training to provide a fun, safe, and educational environment for our day campers.

Requirements:

Summer Farm Camp Counselors will be able to

lift 40 lbs, work outside most of the day,

walk at least 5 miles in one day, be on their feet and active for most of the work day.

be punctual, engaged and behave professionally.

aware of all current Santa Cruz County COVID 19 restrictions and guidelines and willing to follow them in public and private settings.

Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, offices, and surrounding area on the upper farm.

Observe work schedule and timeliness

Preferred:

Bilingual Spanish speaker.

Experience and understanding of Latinx culture.

Duration: 12 weeks total including 2 weeks of training at 30 hours and 10 weeks of summer camp sessions at 40+ hours. Beginning May 19, 2025, through August 8, 2025. Summer Farm Camp Counselors will report to the Education Director, the Education Associate, and the Executive Director.

Position Details: This is a 40+ hour per week, full time seasonal/temporary position. Pay is $19-21/hour depending on experience (2 weeks at 30, 8 weeks at 40+). In addition, the farm will provide organic produce, and fresh eggs.
