Join the 92nd Street Y Camps staff team! We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic individuals to work in a leadership role at one of our summer camps. Available positions include summer directors, unit supervisors and head counselors. As part of the 92nd Street Y Camps you can enjoy the best of both worlds: live in New York City while traveling to your "office" in the country (all campers and staff travel together on coach buses each day). 92Y's team philosophy creates a stimulating work environment in which every staff member is valued. Camp runs from Mon-Fri, for from June 28 until August 19; with a pre-camp orientation in June. Some spring pre-camp work may be required for all leadership positions.

Essential Formula:

• Pre-camp planning which may include spring retreats, hiring of staff, correspondence with camp families, and camp programming

• Leading and planning June staff orientation

• Guide camper group in participation in group activities commensurate with the abilities, limitations and needs of campers

• Supervision of staff, including counselors and Counselors in training (CITs).

• Maintain communication with parents of campers, including phone calls, letters home, and website updates

• Assist individual campers with personal needs as is necessary

• Maintain enthusiasm for camp life and activities

• Full participation in the Camp's swim program

• Familiarizing with all aspects of the camp program including, but not limited to camp cheers, procedural protocol, etc.

• Creation, distribution and analysis of mid-summer and end-of-summer staff evaluations.

• Help incorporate Jewish values including: mindfulness, compassion, courage, being a leader and being a mensch into the staff and camper experience.

• Ensuring that all safety procedures are strictly enforced and any incidents are both handled in a timely and appropriate manner

Education, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in field of education and/or social work

• Prior camp experience (camper or staff) preferred but not required

• Leadership Skills

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment for long hours, outdoors and still smile
