Main Location: The Nutrition & Wellness Coordinator will work with our family and

children programs, which are located throughout the Bay Area in either Daly City, San

Mateo, Menlo Park, or Santa Clara.

Are you ready to learn about the power of good food to help our clients improve their health and wellbeing? Summer Nutrition Coordinators will be deeply involved in improving the quality of food, nutrition and wellness services provided at LifeMoves locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Nutrition Coordinators will spend the summer supervising and working with children living in LifeMoves programs, preparing food and activities for campers during camp.

Time Commitment: 7 Weeks, part-time (165-200 hours total)

Dates: June 15-July 31, 2026

  • June 15-June 26, M-F: Orientation and training for all LifeMoves summer camp

staff

  • June 29-July 30

○ Mondays: 1-4 hours prep onsite

○ Tuesday-Thursday: Summer camp

○ Fridays: 1-2 hour morning virtual debrief meeting, grocery order due, site

preparations for the following week

  • July 31: Camp debriefs and deconstruction process, data collection, end of

summer celebration

Primary Responsibilities

  • Attend and complete LifeMoves onboarding and summer camp training
  • Plans and prepares nutritious meals and snacks daily for the children enrolled in

summer camp

  • Sends weekly shopping lists to Program Coordinator and Children and Family

Services Manager weekly

  • Implements educational nutrition activities weekly
  • Leads physical CATCH activity weekly
  • Sorts and distributes donated food items to clients
  • Supports Children’s Services Coordinators and Program Leads with supervision

of children and volunteer counselors, leads daily activities, and maintains safety

and wellbeing of campers

  • Data tracks meals and activities, submits weekly reports to Children & Family

Services Manager

  • Practices health and food safety in regards to the ServeSafe protocols, completes

ServSafe certification

  • Attends weekly field trips and prepares meals accordingly
  • Contributes to the development of strategic and sustainable nutrition and

wellness plans

  • Connects staff and clients to nutrition and wellness resources through material

development and group programming.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Main Location: The Nutrition & Wellness Coordinator will work with our family and children programs, which are located throughout the Bay Area in either Daly City, San Mateo, Menlo Park, or Santa Clara.

Qualifications

Position Requirements/Preferred Skills:

  • High school seniors and college students (18+)
  • Must have your own form of reliable transportation.
  • Preferred college coursework towards degree in nutrition, public health, health

promotion, agriculture, pre-med or related field.

  • Interest in public health, food and nutrition.
  • Basic to intermediate cooking skills.
  • Comfortable working in diverse low-income communities
  • Self-motivated, flexible, team player
  • Experience working with diverse and low-income populations
  • Knowledge of nutrition and food security issues
  • Must be able to follow COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain understanding of the challenges of the charitable food system, social

determinants of health, and role of nutrition in health

  • Leadership experience in managing multiple sides of a summer program for

underserved populations

  • Experience designing and implementing nutritional and educational

programming for unhoused children

  • Insight into the needs of unhoused children and how adverse experiences impact

long-term outcomes

  • Exposure to senior staff and the operations of a leading nonprofit organization

  • Position can also fulfill internship requirements if necessary

Compensation: Hourly, $18.70 per hour
