Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Avila Beach, CA. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will lead and engage with children in educational and recreational activities, promoting ocean stewardship through hands-on lessons and workshops. Responsibilities include planning and supervising daily camp activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and fostering an inclusive and positive environment. Counselors will also assist in lifeguarding duties during aquatic activities and contribute to the overall success of the camp experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in camp settings and a passion for working with children
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups
- Lifeguarding skills or certifications, and a demonstrated ability to ensure safety in aquatic environments
- Background in education or facilitation of learning, particularly in marine science or related subjects
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to foster an engaging and supportive environment
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
- Ability to collaborate with team members
