iCan Work! Success Coach (Job Coach) – Metro Orlando

Job Description

We are looking for competent Success Coaches (Job Coach) to help our members enhance their strengths and improve their job skills. You will coach individuals 18+ with Down syndrome in the workplace as part of our iCan! Work Program. The goal of this role at The FOUNDATION is to coach the participants of the program in their assigned role through meaningful employment rotations and opportunities while identifying and meeting milestones for each step of the training. The Success Coach will track daily performance and share with the Program Manager suggestions so The FOUNDATION can create resources and/or training modules necessary for the participants’ success.

A Success Coach must be a mentor eager to support their partner. The ability to discover our participants strengths and weaknesses and help them determine what works best for them is paramount in this role. The ideal candidate(s) will have effective motivational skills partnered with critical thinking and problem solving skills. The ability to assess the work environment, job duties and overall demands of their position as they relate to the participant then translate them into a plan of action that is measurable requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additionally, the Success Coach will be responsible for guiding, assisting, and documenting the participants’ day-to-day performance as it pertains to the benchmarks and goals set for each position. This includes, but is not limited to the workplace responsibilities. The ability to communicate with the participants’ family members and support team to ensue their overall success is equally important.

Another function this role performs is helping Community Partners (workplace locations) establish peer / natural supports to ensure sustained employment success of each participant. The ultimate goal is long-term employment with maximum independence.

In addition to one to one coaching, this role will help facilitate group workshops and classes related to workplace topics and soft skills training such as Advocacy Camps, Creative Confidence, PEERS and Transportation Workshops and Parent Partnership Training Sessions.

This role will report to the iCan! Work Program Manager and will serve as a link between The FOUNDATION, the corporate partner (workplace), the participant (employee), and their family.

The iCan Work! Program is a vocational program through the Down Syndrome FOUNDATION of Florida. The program provides pre-employment services, on-the-job training, and supported employment for teens and adults with Down syndrome.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement effective job coaching and employment plans
Communicate with participants to understand their goals and ambitions
Assist participants set goals.
Facilitate the process of discovering and overcoming any barriers to success in the workplace
Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively
Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
Help in the development of motivation and skills
Assist people with Down syndrome in developing social and life skills necessary for employment success
Advice on workplace accommodations for participants
Monitor and evaluate the progress of participants
Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports.
Develop and implement workplace accommodations and benchmark measures of success for employment candidates
Maintain confidentiality of members who participate in activities
Obtain feedback from participants and parents regarding their satisfaction with the program
Provide daily and monthly reports required to track their achievement of workplace benchmarks and goals.
Success Coach(es) will work at various “On-Location” Training Programs including, but not limited to: Orlando Magic home games, White Castle, Orlando Health, YMCA and Quality One Wireless.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with unique abilities in employment or training roles is preferred.
Experience working with individuals with Down syndrome is a plus.
Experience in a fast paced environment with food handling experience a plus.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
Experience in developing employment plans
Ability to adhere to regulations and standards
Working knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
Respect and passion for inclusion and diversity
Ability to inspire and motivate
High school diploma; BSc/BA or degree in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Special or Regular Education or other related fields a plus
Reliable transportation (*you will not transport participants)
Background check and the ability to pass VR testing are required.
Must have a SafeServ Food Handling Certificate (If you do not have one you can take the test as part of your on-boarding program.)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
