The Greater New York Nepali Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting Nepali-American-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals across the Greater New York region. Through networking events, advocacy, business education, and strategic partnerships, the Chamber promotes economic growth and long-term community development.

The Chamber connects the Nepali-American business community with government agencies, financial institutions, and private-sector networks, helping members access opportunities, build meaningful connections, and grow their ventures in and beyond New York City.

Role Description

This is a remote-first, possibly in-person Strategy & Operations Intern role. The intern will work closely with organizational leadership to support the execution of strategic initiatives, operational workflows, and high-impact community programs. This role blends project coordination, business operations, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Daily responsibilities include coordinating events and programming, conducting market and industry research, supporting membership and partnership outreach, improving internal processes, and assisting with the execution of strategic growth initiatives across the Chamber’s operations.

  • Marketing & Communications
  • Event Programming

This position offers hands-on exposure to nonprofit operations, business development, and community-driven strategy at an organizational level.

Responsibilities

  • Support, planning, and execution of Chamber initiatives, programs, and events
  • Conduct market, industry, and partnership research to support strategic initiatives, such as helping identify grant opportunities and assisting with external stakeholder engagement
  • Assist with membership growth and institutional outreach efforts to business leaders, startups, investors, universities, nonprofits, and community organizations
  • Maintain organizational records and assist with operational workflows
  • Collaborate remotely and possibly in-person with leadership and fellow interns
  • Participate in weekly strategy, planning, and execution meetings

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional stakeholder engagement
  • Understanding of operations management, project coordination, or organizational planning
  • Ability to work independently under a supervisor and adapt in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools is a plus (Google Workspace, Excel, Notion, Asana, Slack, Canva, etc.)

Internship Details

Location: Hybrid (Remote-first, with opportunities for in-person participation at Chamber meetings, networking events, and signature programs in the NYC area)

Compensation: Unpaid

Schedule: Flexible, 8-12 hrs/week or more based on programming needs

Duration: Summer/Fall 2026 (extension possible)
