Standards Development Associate

ABYC is seeking a Standards Development Associate to support the development and review of marine safety standards. This role is ideal for candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of boats and their systems, and an interest in the boating industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Standards support — Assist with draft preparation, formatting, comment tracking, and publication materials.
- Committee coordination — Help schedule meetings, distribute documents, and maintain rosters.
- Document management — Prepare agendas, summaries, and meeting packages.
- Member support — Respond to basic inquiries and route technical questions.
- Research assistance — Support technical research, testing, and data organization.
- International standards support — Provide administrative help for ISO Small Craft standards activities.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of boats, their systems, and technical documentation
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Acrobat, PowerPoint, and Zoom
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to learn
- Passion for boating safety and mission‑driven work
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $50,000–$65,000, based on experience
