Staff Accountant
Public Accounting Firm | Full-Time
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our public accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, nonprofit auditing, bookkeeping, payroll, and general client accounting services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual and business federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Assist with tax research, planning, and responding to client tax questions.
- Perform audits and other accounting services for nonprofit organizations.
- Prepare workpapers, financial statements, and supporting schedules in accordance with professional standards.
- Provide ongoing accounting and bookkeeping services for clients.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, answer questions, and resolve accounting and tax issues.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and timely workpapers and client records.
- Stay current with applicable tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of accounting or related accounting experience preferred; strong recent graduates will also be considered.
- Familiarity with individual and business tax returns is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Experience with tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, or nonprofit auditing is a plus.
- CPA eligibility or progress toward the CPA designation is preferred but not required.

About the Position

Pay: $50,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
