Job Description
COMMUNITY CARE IN LOCAL HOMES: Private, non-profit social service agency in New Castle, PA, seeking caring people to care for people in our Early Intervention Program. When a child has a global development delay, a Special Instructor will be brought in to help the parent and child meet outcomes and goals specified in the child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Our Special Instructors design the learning environments and activities that promote the acquisition of skills by an infant or toddler in a variety of developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction. Special Instructors provide education to parents by helping them identify the developmental milestones towards which their children are working. Most education is provided using a play therapy-based approach. Services are provided to our clients in the clients’ homes, and travel within Lawrence County is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education, or family studies
OR Bachelor’s degree which includes 15 credit hours in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education, or family studies AND a demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to perform job duties
1 year of full-time equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families
Contract position.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, professional liability insurance, proof of completion of OCDEL-required trainings, and valid driver’s license and must provide pre-employment screenings.
