Consept is a think tank and strategy lab working at the intersection of social investment, technology, strategy and systems change. We work on tools, frameworks, and real-world interventions that address complex challenges—from housing equity to economic empowerment to movement infrastructure.
We’re looking for a visionary software developer/engineer to join our core team—not as an employee, but as a creative and strategic partner. Have your own software development firm? Fine with us. Be affiliated with the Consept family of firms. This is a builder’s role, not an employee role. As part of the Consept think tank, you’ll be an early stage participant in projects that evolve into funded ventures, contracts, shared ventures or licensing opportunities—with shared upside for those who help shape them.
As a member of Consept, you’ll have:
A front-row seat to projects that may spin off into contracts or business opportunities.
The chance to shape apps and tools with social, civic, and economic value.
A role in early-stage ideation with pathways to revenue, influence, and ownership.
Ideal candidates are:
Fluent in front-end or full-stack dev (React/Next.js a plus)
Conversant and knowledgeable in the use of AI
Passionate about using tech to solve real-world problems
Comfortable navigating ambiguity, big ideas, and early-stage prototyping
Excited about being part of a creative team using traditional business or nonprofit models, but also thinking beyond them
We’re building what interests us, to benefit communities and institutions, in support of movements. The work sits at the intersection of imagination, equity, and technical execution.
Location: Remote, with a slight edge for folks connected to the Midwest
Time commitment: Light lift to start—aligned around mutual interest and creative flow
