Orato World Media is seeking a creative and experienced audience expert to lead social media strategy, with a focus on short-form video production, for our global newsroom.
As we resume full publication, Orato is seeking an experienced and effective social media strategist to lead and implement a robust social media strategy across 1 1/2 dozen global platforms, with an emphasis on short-form video that showcases our compelling, first-person accounts from those who have a front-row seat to history.

Orato, a nonprofit global newsroom dedicated to first-person storytelling. We engage professional journalists to interview (and fact-check) the stories of witnesses, victims, whistle-blowers and others whose voices need to be heard in these times, putting them in context of the larger struggle for dignity and human rights. We do this both in long-form story-telling, social media campaigns and using those recorded interviews for a new podcast to support Orato's mission of reaching the widest audience with stories that matter.
You:
Preferably multilingual, with an emphasis on English and Spanish, experienced with short-form video production and a deep understanding of how to attract and retain users across a variety of platforms — not only the ones that dominate the United States market (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, etc.) but also familiarity with Latin American and Asian social-media platforms.
You have a strong sense of news judgment, a keen interest in keeping up with today’s ever-demanding news cycle and can strike the right note with deeply affecting stories. You will work with our Lead Editor and Media professionals in the timely and weekly production of social media campaigns.
During our soft-relaunch phase, we anticipate 5-10 hours of work weekly, expanding to as many as 20 hours upon full resumption of publication.
