First Methodist Church in Pleasanton, TX has been proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ since 1857 and is currently seeking a full-time Senior Pastor called by God to stand in agreement with His sacred word. Our church is a financially stable independent Methodist congregation with a Book of Discipline and Bylaws.
Our ministry staff includes two associate pastors and a church secretary. We have a Wesley Nurse serving our church and community. We also have several volunteers dedicated to leading children and youth ministries, community service, and various Bible study classes.
The Senior Pastor will:
Preach the Word of God and lead Sunday worship service
Guide this congregation by the power of the Holy Spirit
Collaborate with the Church Council regarding administrative duties of the church
Preside as the primary officiant for church functions; communion, baptism, weddings, confirmations, and funerals
Provide pastoral care for the congregation.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate alignment with our doctrinal beliefs. Education in theology or a degree from a seminary/bible college is preferred. Prior experience in church leadership as a Pastor is preferred. We seek candidates who are personable, engaging with all ages and backgrounds, effective communicators and administrators, and computer literate. A parsonage is available, and salary will be based on experience.
Pleasanton is a growing rural community conveniently located 40 miles south of San Antonio. The town offers good schools and many amenities of a larger city. Known as the Birthplace of the Cowboy, Pleasanton is filled with live oaks and friendly folks!
