SafePlace is seeking a full-time Executive Director to guide our organization in providing compassionate, trauma-informed services, while fostering a welcoming environment and building a strong, resilient community.

The Role: As our Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of SafePlace, working closely with the Board of Directors and the dedicated staff to lead and manage the organization. You will oversee programs and services, ensuring they align with our mission, while strategically guiding SafePlace through fiscal and community engagement efforts. This is a dynamic leadership role where your change management expertise will be essential to help guide the organization through growth and adaptation, as we continue to serve survivors in new and innovative ways.
What You’ll Do:
Leadership & Strategic Direction:
Partner with the Board of Directors to define SafePlace’s long-term goals and strategic vision.
Act as the public face of SafePlace, fostering relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and media.
Champion the voices and needs of survivors by advocating for their well-being through engagement with community leaders and key state and national organizations, collaborating to proactively identify ways to better support survivors.
Operational & Fiscal Management:
Manage a $4.1M budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability through grant development, donor cultivation, and compliance with state and local funding requirements.
Oversee program development, ensuring all services are delivered effectively and in alignment with our trauma-informed, survivor-centered philosophy.
Team Leadership & Change Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of compassionate professionals and volunteers, promoting a culture of collaboration, respect, and empowerment.
Engage change management skills to guide the agency, ensuring smooth transitions and sustained team morale.
Foster an environment of teamwork where every staff member has the tools, training, and support needed to succeed in their roles.
Community Impact & Growth:
Engage with community partners, legislators, and local decision-makers to create lasting solutions and enhance support for survivors.
Ensure SafePlace’s services remain at the forefront of best practices in trauma-informed care and survivor empowerment.
Who You Are:
You are a compassionate, strategic, and experienced leader who understands the complexities of sexual and domestic violence and is committed to supporting both survivors and those who work with them. You bring strong management skills, a passion for advocacy, and a collaborative, community-focused mindset. With your proven change management skills, you are adept at navigating challenges and leading teams through change while ensuring continuity and stability within the organization.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in nonprofit leadership and resource development.
In-depth knowledge of sexual and domestic violence prevention and survivor support services.
Demonstrated success in fundraising, including grant writing and donor relations.
Strong financial management skills and understanding of nonprofit fiscal policies.
Expertise in change management processes and experience in leading organizations through transitions.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and at least six years of progressively responsible management experience.
Equivalent experience may include extensive leadership experience, on-the-job-training, professional development, certifications, specialized training, and/or cross-functional role experience.
