RoarCorps Jobs in Arkansas at AmeriCorps

RoarCorps is the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s AmeriCorps program, placing 35 members across Sebastian and Crawford Counties to address interconnected community needs in education, environmental stewardship, and healthy futures. In the Education focus area, 25 members provide daily one-on-one and small group literacy tutoring to K–6th grade students enrolled in afterschool programs at local Boys & Girls Clubs sites. Members work with students identified as below or at risk of falling below grade-level reading proficiency, with a goal of serving 100 students and helping at least 70% demonstrate measurable literacy gains by year’s end as measured by the DIBELS assessment. In the Healthy Futures focus area, members support inclusive exercise and wellness programming for K-12 students with special needs in partnership with Community Connections, facilitate garden-based education workshops at sites like the Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing, and support food distribution efforts alongside the River Valley Regional Food Bank. In the Environmental Stewardship focus area, members lead native plant and sustainability education workshops for K-12 students and support hands-on habitat restoration and conservation activities in partnership with the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center and other local conservation sites. Members receive 20–60 hours of scaffolded training, a living allowance stipend, and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of their 300-hour minimum-time service term.
