Overview
RoarCorps YMHC Jobs in Arkansas at AmeriCorps
RoarCorps is the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s AmeriCorps program, placing members across Sebastian and Crawford Counties to strengthen the River Valley through education, healthy futures, environmental stewardship, and youth mental health support. As part of Arkansas’s inaugural Youth Mental Health Corps (YMHC) cohort, RoarCorps members serve youth ages 13–18 through weekly mentoring sessions focused on mental health awareness, healthy coping skills, and connection to community-based resources. Members serve in a peer mentoring and support role — building consistent, trusting relationships with local teens and helping bridge the gap between young people and the mental health resources available to them. RoarCorps YMHC members receive training in mental health awareness, youth-specific mandatory reporting procedures, professional boundaries, digital safety, and community resource navigation. Members are supervised by trained Site Supervisors and supported by the RoarCorps Director throughout their term of service. Members commit to a 450-hour, quarter-time service term and receive a living allowance stipend while serving and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion.
