Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our Johnson City ReStore team. All ReStore proceeds go towards Holston Habitat for Humanity’s mission in building more affordable homes throughout the East TN and SWVA region. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and a knack for sales. As a Cashier, you will be the first point of contact for customers, responsible for providing an exceptional shopping experience through accurate transactions and engaging interactions. Your role will involve operating cash registers, assisting customers, and promoting additional sales through upselling techniques.
Responsibilities
Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately and efficiently.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their inquiries.
Engage in upselling techniques to enhance customer purchases and maximize sales opportunities.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to ensure a pleasant shopping environment.
Assist in managing inventory by restocking shelves as needed and merchandising by department.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
Handle returns and exchanges according to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Saturdays are required for work: 10am-6pm. Other days flexible. Total of 20-24 hours/week available.
Experience
Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with thrift store operations and processes with donation intake and sales.
Familiarity with cash register operations and Point of Sale (POS) systems is advantageous.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.50 – $13.50 per hour
