Shelter Program Details

Our shelter program provides temporary accommodation for men and women who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. We specifically focus on individuals who are actively engaged in services offered by Sonoma County Behavioral Health.

The shelter is located in a spacious historic home in Santa Rosa, which includes a yard and offers 13 beds for clients receiving support from Sonoma County Behavioral Health Services. This facility plays a crucial role as a steppingstone toward transitional and permanent housing solutions for those we serve.

Community Support Network is committed to fostering stability and empowerment for individuals facing homelessness in Sonoma County.

The responsibilities associated with this program encompass, but are not limited to:

Resident Relations: Fostering positive, supportive, and respectful interactions with residents while aiding them in achieving their treatment objectives.

Supportive Services: Delivering educational and supportive services within a framework of social rehabilitation.

Daily Living Activities: Assisting residents in completing essential daily living tasks.

Group Activities: Planning and facilitating group activities to promote community engagement among residents.

Medication Management: Supervising medication administration and ensuring adherence to prescribed regimens.

Documentation: Maintaining accurate records, including client progress notes, incident reports, and any necessary special reports.

Guidelines Compliance: Following established guidelines, policies, and procedures while providing support to residents.

Crisis Intervention: Applying crisis prevention strategies and interventions using a trauma-informed approach.

Chart Reviews/Filing: Conducting regular reviews of client charts and maintaining organized filing systems.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Educational Background:

A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
An associate degree is preferred; however, relevant experience in the social services sector and personal life experiences are considered valuable assets.

Skills:

Strong observation and listening skills are crucial for effective performance.
The ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment is necessary.

Interpersonal Skills:

Candidates must be capable of establishing and maintaining professional boundaries while interacting with residents.
Strong interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to demonstrate compassion while adhering to guidelines and policies regarding resident interactions.

Experience with Documentation:

Familiarity with client documentation processes and proficiency in the Smart Care system is a plus.
