Position: Â Relief Housekeeper (union position)
In compliance with the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army Booth Centre, to minister to those in need and other persons affected by homelessness by practical assistance through a demonstration of Christian love and concern. Under the direct supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Housekeeper will provide a service to residents/clients by maintaining the Booth Centre at a high standard of cleanliness and safety while interacting in a positive supportive manner.
Minimum Requirements
Possess a combination ofeducationand life-related experience in housekeeping/janitorial services.
Possess a current First Aid and CPR, non-violent Crisis Intervention and WHIMIS certificate.
Alternative combinations ofeducationand experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge
Possess knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning materials.
Skills and Capabilities
Possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Manage time wisely.
Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and under supervision.
Ability to lift/carry loads up to forty pounds.
Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission andpurposeof The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
