Here’s a summary of responsibilities:
As a nonprofit organization that does not receive government funding, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) relies on the generous support of a committed community of donors and sponsors. Increasing philanthropic support for U.S. athletes is one of the USOPC’s highest strategic priorities and hence, the organization has established the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) as the Fundraising organization for the USOPC and is investing significant resources in its Development division.
Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropic Giving (East), the Regional Director, Philanthropic Giving (East) is responsible for overseeing the USOPF’s Major & Principal Gifts program on the East Coast. This role manages a team of Major Gift Officers and ensures the team’s revenue goals are met. The position involves strategic planning, fundraising leadership, and significant contributions to the success of the 2028 Los Angeles Games’ comprehensive fundraising campaign. This role also manages a personal portfolio of major gift prospects while guiding the team’s overall efforts.
Here’s how you ‘ll have an impact:
Leadership (70%)
Collaborate with Development leadership to develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to drive philanthropic growth.
Oversee budget and financial planning for the Major & Principal Gifts program on the East Coast, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and campaign priorities.
Mentor and guide the Regional Gift Officer team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
Provide strategic oversight of donor engagement strategies, database management, and solicitation processes for the Regional Gift Officer team.
Partner with Strategic Advancement and Analytics & Growth teams to ensure data-driven prospect management, including tracking cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Partner with Development leadership and cross-functional teams to prioritize strategic initiatives, enhance donor communication tools, and align regional efforts with organizational objectives.
Principal & Major Gifts Fundraising (30%)
Work closely with Vice President, Philanthropic Giving (East) and Campaign Director to establish a strong portfolio process and prospect strategies for prospects with giving capacities of $2.5M+ in support of ongoing philanthropic priorities.
Establish and implement an annual planning process for the Major & Principal Gifts program with measurable objectives aligned with USOPF’s goals.
Achieve specific and measurable goals for contracts, effective portfolio management, proposals presented, and dollars raised.
Update and refine short-term and long-term strategies for existing top prospects and donors, moving them through the stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Manage a personal portfolio of 25-35 prospects, ensuring engagement and successful solicitation of both principal and major gifts.
Actively and routinely engage in strategic prospect discovery work to identify new major gift funders and philanthropists.
Cultivate and solicit principal and major gift prospects through personalized strategies, leveraging events and volunteer networks.
Collaborate with USOPF trustees and volunteers to identify, engage, and solicit high-value donors.
In collaboration with Director, Trustee & Donor Engagement, oversee the strategic approval and integration of fundraising events within the annual philanthropic giving plan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maximizing donor engagement opportunities.
Maintain accurate donor records and ensure transparency and accountability in all fundraising activities.

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be effective:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
12-15 years of successful fundraising experience in a non-profit environment, including securing six-figure gifts and managing geographically dispersed fundraising teams
Experience in a large, sophisticated development organization preferred
Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing major and principal gifts, and meeting significant revenue goals
Experience partnering with senior organizational leaders to help drive strategy forward while making significant impact
Experience with developing and managing budgets and revenue forecasts
Ability to lead, mentor, and maintain high-performing teams within a sophisticated environment
Ability to lead in developing creative and innovative strategies and translating those strategies into tactical execution that provides measurable results
Ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents
Proven ability to build relationships to advance and implement a long-term strategic vision that fosters charitable giving
Knowledge of planned giving processes
Strategic and data-driven approach to prospect management and donor cultivation, with proven skill in analyzing and interpreting data to drive strategy
Proven ability to translate complex organizational funding needs into compelling fundraising appeals across all broad-based channels and programs, then executing against those plans to achieve goals and objectives
Forward thinking skills with a track record of utilizing new methods of constituent engagement and connectivity
Integrity and commitment to honoring donor intentions, including discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information

Hiring Pay Range: $190,000 – $210,000 per year
Work Week: This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 20% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
