Position: Recreation Assistant (Temporary Part Time for approximately 11 months)

Position Overview:

Recreation assistants play a key role in supporting the successful delivery ofa wide variety of recreation and leisure programs in the community.

Responsibilities:

Delivers equipment to various locations. Ensures new equipment purchases are recorded for inventory. Sanitizes and inspects existing equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.

Organizes fitness/other equipment storage rooms before the start of a new session.

Visits various locations to monitor programs and connect with program staff and/or volunteers. Reportsany concerns to the Program Coordinator for appropriate follow-up.

Provides support, and occasionally attends volunteer-led programs to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.

Ensure evaluations are completed for each program at the end of eachsession.

Monitors program attendance and conductsfollow-up with participants to determine their ongoing interest.

Assists Program Coordinators to develop and implement volunteer appreciation initiatives.

Assists in the implementation ofspecial program events.

Assists Program Coordinator in the implementation of wellness and educationalworkshops.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum level of education – completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent).

Must be able to lift 35lbsunassisted.

Access to reliable transportation for the duration of employment

Minimum 3 months of related experience.

Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
