Position: PT Client Advocate, The Brooklyn YAS (Youth against Substance Misuse)

We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in:
Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross-section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe.

Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

The Brooklyn YAS (Youth against Substance Misuse) is committed to creating community-level change that will reduce risk factors and promote protective factors that prevent substance misuse among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer (LGBTQ+) and other youth in the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York, Williamsburg, and Bushwick. The coalition represents a diverse array of members from different sectors that are invested in preventing or delaying substance use initiation among LGBTQ+ and other youth.

Position: PT Client Advocate

Reports To:
Supervisor I

Location: 1259 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226

What The PT Client Advocate Does:

Collaborate with supervisor & members in creating and implementing a comprehensive social marketing and social media plan, and calendar.

Coordinate trainings/presentations for coalition and/or community members.

Collect survey and interview data for community assessment.

Liaise with diverse sectors of the community to expand the reach of the coalition.

Recruit, orient, and employ strategies to retain coalition members.

Participate in coalition and subcommittee meetings.

Prepare marketing materials for the program.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

Sufficient education and technical expertise to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); basic math to accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasks.

Other Requirements:

Proficiency in Google on Canva.

One (1) year of relevant experience, preferably in a mid-sized (250+ employees) organization.

Good written & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Computer literacy in other Microsoft Office Suite products.

Experience, knowledge of, and/or ability to work with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.

Experience with community engagement.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation: $20 per hour
Status: Part-time (15 hours per week)
