Position Description
The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) seeks a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Project Manager to support the execution of collaborations and funded initiatives.
This independent contractor role will serve as a key liaison between NSF and external partners, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, deadlines are met, and partners receive consistent, professional communication throughout the life of a project.
As the global voice for sleep health, NSF advances health and well-being through sleep research, education, and advocacy. The Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day execution of project deliverables that reflect NSF’s research, education, communications, and thought leadership initiatives. Responsibilities include developing project timelines, coordinating stakeholders, tracking deliverables, facilitating meetings, monitoring progress, providing clear and responsive communications, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and to a high standard.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and relationship manager who combines strong project management expertise with outstanding communications skills. They are comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects, working with senior-level stakeholders, and serving as a trusted point of contact for partners throughout project implementation.
This is a remote, part-time independent contractor position and is not a permanent employee role. Contractors are responsible for their own employment taxes, insurances, and benefits. Hours are expected to fluctuate based on project volume but are anticipated to average approximately 15–20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours based on performance and project volume.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in a communications agency, nonprofit, consulting, or corporate environment
- Demonstrated experience serving as the day-to-day contact for clients, sponsors, or external partners and managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and deliverables
- Experience managing research, communications, education, content development, or thought leadership projects
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing client-facing updates and executive-level communications
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with external collaborators and senior-level stakeholders
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with project management platforms; Zoho Projects or Asana preferred
- Familiarity with Zoho CRM and related business systems is strongly preferred
