Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Programs & Development Specialist to support the affiliate’s work in programs, marketing and development, and volunteer management. This position plays a vital role in supporting key programs, including homeowner services, financial literacy initiatives, and critical home repair application intake. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a passion for serving the community.
In addition to program coordination, this role involves administrative support, volunteer engagement, and community outreach to strengthen Habitat for Humanity of Horry County’s impact. The specialist will assist with grant writing, reporting, and advocacy efforts while collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Programs Support & Outreach:
Support the administration of HFHHC’s homebuyer program, including intake, orientation, and participant engagement.
Assist in financial literacy education initiatives to help program participants achieve their financial goals.
Manage critical home repair application intake and support homeowners through the process.
Expand outreach efforts to increase the pipeline of applicants for homeownership, home repair, and financial literacy programs.
Assist in delinquency responses, foreclosure mitigation efforts, and homeowner engagement programs.
Facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts, providing technical assistance to resident leaders and organizing community meetings.
Volunteer Management & Engagement:
Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training volunteers for various HFHHC initiatives, including home builds, restore, office support, and special events.
Coordinate volunteer scheduling and ensure appropriate coverage for programs and projects.
Aid in maintaining volunteer data, tracking participation, hours, and impact in alignment with HFHHC policies.
Marketing, Development & Community Engagement:
Assist with grant writing and reporting to support program funding and sustainability.
Support community outreach efforts to promote HFHHC’s mission and increase program participation.
Collaborate with the development team to cultivate event sponsorships, secure funding partnerships, and promote theme builds.
Represent HFHHC at community events, networking opportunities, and public presentations to increase visibility and engagement.
Assist with content creation for HFHHC’s website, social media, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.
Coordinate and support special events, including fundraising efforts and program-related initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and relationship building.
Experience with volunteer coordination, community outreach, fundraising and/or nonprofit programming preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and digital communication tools (social media, Canva, WordPress preferred).
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with teams and external partners.
Empathy and ability to work with diverse populations, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Work Environment:
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
Hybrid work model (minimum 2-3 days/week at a Habitat location, with ability to work from home the other days). Additional days in the office may be required to build critical interpersonal connections and strengthen the HFHHC team’s vision, strategy, and cohesiveness.
Often required to climb stairs to access offices and attend meetings in other locations.
Ability to travel to and from meetings and appointments in locations and times when public transportation is unavailable.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment during a variety of weather conditions.
