The Program Specialist is responsible for the quality, participation, and year-end financial results of the Teens in Action Program.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent
2-5 years of progressive experience working with students.
Experience working with underserved youth
Ability to work with adiversegroup of youth and adults
Basic computer skills
Have and maintain a good driving record and reliable transportation
Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills
High moral character and integrity
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in social work,education, or a related field
3-5 years working with underserved teenagers
2-3 years experience with small group facilitation and grant management
Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
Essential Functions:
Provide participants with effective truancypreventionprogramming through one-on-one mentoring and small group sessions.
Provide lunch and after school programming daily.
Operate a 14-passenger van for up to 350 miles.
Work some Saturdays and evenings as needed.
Implement a recruitment plan includingcollaborationwith coworkers, schools, and other organizations.
Enroll new referrals in the program and collect necessary paperwork.
Relationships:
Maintain clearcommunicationand positive relations with all program staff, guests, volunteers, peers, and supporters of Camp Fire.
Key Area of Responsibility:
Program Operations
Conduct lunch and after school small group sessions with youth to inspire and motivate them to stay in school, improve attendance and grades, and eliminate risky behavior.
Demonstrate measurable improvement in those areas for all participants.
Conduct home visits as needed to positively impact the parent-child relationship.
Teach studentsleadershipandcommunication skillsthrough Camp Fire-approved curriculum.
Collaborate with the Teens in Action Team on curriculum planning and design.
Conduct an annual survey to assess Thriving indicators and plan needed improvements.
Ensure that participants receive needed social services and resources.
Provide experiences through service learning projects and field trips for students.
Maintain accurate files including school attendance, grades, court appearances, and home visits.
Monitor program quality via observation and outcomes and facilitate needed improvements.
Collect, enter, and report program data, including participant demographic information.
Communicate regularly with school and community officials to enroll new participants.
Develop relationships with local community leaders and organize speakers and volunteers.
