ABOUT THE POSITION
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Associate (PA) is a member of the newly created cross-organizational Policy andAdvocacyteam located in either Schusterman’s Washington DC or New York NY offices. The PA will work to achieve a more just andinclusivesociety by supporting policy andadvocacywork in Schusterman’s priority areas:
Gender and Reproductive Equity, Educational Equity, Voting Rights, and Criminal Justice Reform. This position will also support Schusterman in using its assets, financial and otherwise, to maximize impact while looking for new ways of collaborating among colleagues and external funders. This position will report to the Senior Director for Policy andAdvocacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is a key role on the Policy andAdvocacyteam. Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Project Management & Planning (30%)
Outcome:
The program manager will lead projects andstrategic planningefforts involving colleagues from Schusterman portfolios and outside consultants that maximize our Policy &Advocacyimpact in priority areas.
Design and manage projects in service of Schusterman policy andadvocacypriorities such as the internal Roadmap.
Knowledge Management & Communications (30%)
Outcome:
Manage analysis of and presentation of data, insights, and activities so thatleadershipand colleagues have a clear understanding, track key indicators of work so progress is clear.
Design and write bi-monthly internal Policy &Advocacyupdate.
Design and write presentations, memos, and other documents to persuasively and clearly present policy andadvocacyplans and priorities for internal and external use.
Establish and manage an organization-wide system to track government relations activities.
InternalCollaboration(20%)
Outcome:
Build relationships across Schusterman teams and knowledge of Schusterman portfolios.
Establish baseline understanding of portfolios; incorporate needs into processes and products above.
Participate in team meetings andlearning opportunitieswith select Schusterman portfolio teams.
ExternalCollaboration(20%)
Outcome:
Maintain active networks in the policy andadvocacysector in order to formulate perspective, identify opportunities, and represent Schusterman at events and meetings to ensure best-in-class understanding ofadvocacytools and strategies and understanding of the context into which our work lands.
