As the Program Assistant – Project Safe Point, you will play a pivotal role in individuals’ lives, making a significant impact through:
Remain current with industry standards for syringe access programs in NYS and across the country
Conduct prevention related harm reduction interventions with Project Safe Point participants
Work with Drug User Health Hub Coordinator to ensure an adequate stock of supplies is on hand at all times
Ensure data is collected properly and entered accurately into the AIDS Institute Reporting System, as well as other Department Health systems
Conduct sager use related harm reduction interventions with Project Safe Point participants
Stock appropriate supplies necessary to conduct the scope of mobile outreach services, including syringe exchange
Program Assistant – Project Safe Point Minimum Salary: $38,000/year
Program Assistant – Project Safe Point Maximum Salary:$38,000/year
Program Assistant – Project Safe Point Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30-4:30; 37.5 hours per week
NO on-call shifts
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
1 year of experience working with a diverse population
Familiarity with and sensitivity to specialized needs of people with chronic illnesses, HIV/AIDS, of people with substance abuse and mental health issues, of people of color and of GLBT individuals
Knowledge of substance use/abuse, mental health, chronic illnesses and ability to research and seek out resources to provide clients with appropriate information
Must have a personal cell phone, valid driver’s license, proof of current car insurance and registration and access to a reliable, working vehicle
