The Program Assistant provides general information and referral of services offered by My Sister’s Place Women’s Center. Responsible for maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, secure manner. Contributes to the spirit of hospitality and welcome among residents, volunteers and visitors.Work Schedule is Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm
Open since 1982, My Sister’s Place Women’s Center is Baltimore City’s longest-serving women’s day shelter and resource center for women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty. We empower those we serve to overcome their situations through our services, which include extensive workshops centered on the 8 realms ofwellness: emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and socialwellness.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work to maintain a safe and secure environment both inside and outside properties for clients, staff members, volunteers and visitors.
Works proactively to screen visitors and vendors for potential COVID-19 symptoms. This includes but is not limited to temperature scans, administering questionnaires, enforcing social distancing protocols, ensuring frequent sanitization and cleaning of high contact surfaces and well-traveled areas. Additionally, the program assistant is responsible for ensuring clients are wearing masks, and following COVID-19 related guidelines.
Handle specialized tasks which include monitoring the compliance of policies and procedures, reporting incidents, writing violations, and emergency intervention as required.
Assist with the orientation of guests and/or volunteers. Provides guidance and assistance to by being observant and attentive to both positive and negative behavior and reporting activities to supervisor (as needed).
Willingly works with clients and volunteers, demonstrating the philosophy of Catholic Charities and the program through participation in activities, positivecommunication, and helpful attitude.
Maintain logs and files related to various programs, records entries accurately reflecting events as they occurred.
Monitor building activity to help ensure safety, security and compliance with building policies and procedures.
React to emergency situations appropriately and in a professional manner.
Work as a member of ateam environmentincollaborationwith all other employees and volunteers to deliver the highest quality services to all clients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Prefer one year experience working with the homeless or at-risk populations.
Must have competent computer skills.
Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skillsrequired.
Must be physically capable of moving through buildings including stairs, carrying up to 40 pounds and be able to respond to residents in need of assistance.
