Summary

The New Haven Pride Center (NHPC) is looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to join the team as our new Program and Operations Manager. This is a great role for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is interested in working for a small non-profit and is passionate about serving the LGBTQ+ community of New Haven, CT.

Working closely with the Director of External Affairs, the Program and Operations Manager will develop and engage NHPC’s volunteer network, support communication and coordination with community members and partner organizations, assist the Director with event planning and execution, and manage the daily operations of the Center. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a high degree of interaction with the public, attention to detail, strong written communication abilities, and comfort using a variety of digital tools and databases.

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of External Affairs and overseen by the Board of Directors. The majority of work will be performed in person at NHPC, with occasional evening or weekend hours required to support programs, community events, and the annual Pride festival.

Key Responsibilities

Program and Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain systems to organize and streamline volunteer and intern engagement across various areas of interest.
  • Engage in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, management, and record keeping.
  • Coordinate and support the network of affinity groups and community partners who use the NHPC space.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for general questions from community members, volunteers, board members, and partner organizations.
  • Work with the Director to manage community events, Pride festival planning, and other organizational initiatives.

Operational and Administrative Duties

  • Support general office operations and help maintain an organized, welcoming work environment.
  • Monitor shared email inboxes and phone to ensure timely routing, responses, and follow-up on inquiries.
  • Order, organize, and maintain office supplies, equipment, and administrative resources
  • Support building operations, facility maintenance, and basic IT needs.
  • Assist with organizing, updating, and maintaining constituent databases, resource directories, and organizational records.
  • Assess and standardize operations and programming systems to establish a strong baseline for future efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of administrative, office coordination, nonprofit, or related experience; four years preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with donor databases, volunteer management systems, or project management software; experience working with CRMs preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Drive.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a small team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive, and affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ community members and allies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, or advocacy settings.
  • Experience supporting event planning or community engagement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of New Haven nonprofit and arts organizations.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily in-person at NHPC in downtown New Haven.
  • Full-time position with a flexible schedule based on organizational needs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability to support community programs, fundraising events, meetings, and the annual Pride festival.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
