Overview
Print Production Specialist Jobs in Lebanon, OR at Gateway Imprints, Inc.
Make Things for a Living
Gateway Imprints is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Print Production Specialist who enjoys working with their hands, learning new equipment and seeing a project go from an idea to a finished product.
We are a locally owned, full-service print and customization shop in Lebanon, Oregon. Since 2009, we’ve produced custom apparel, embroidery, signs, banners, decals, engraving, promotional products, paper printing and more for businesses, schools, nonprofits, events and individuals throughout our community.
This is a hands-on production position with a lot of variety. You may spend part of your day printing and pressing T-shirts, then move to vinyl graphics, banners, engraving, finishing printed materials or another custom project.
Print shop experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person.
What matters most to us is that you are dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable learning new things and take pride in producing quality work.
What We’re Looking For
You do not need to already know every machine in our shop. In fact, we don’t expect you to.
You do need to:
- Be dependable and show up ready to work
- Have strong attention to detail
- Be comfortable working with your hands and operating equipment
- Be able to accurately read a ruler and measurements
- Follow written work orders and production instructions
- Be comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Manage multiple projects and changing priorities
- Recognize when something doesn’t look right and stop to ask questions
- Care about quality and take pride in finished work
- Work independently while also being part of a team
- Be willing to learn different production processes rather than doing only one task
- Be flexible and willing to jump in where the team needs help
Previous experience in a print shop, screen printing, apparel decoration, embroidery, sign production, vinyl graphics, engraving, manufacturing, machine operation, warehouse production or similar hands-on production environment is a plus, but not required.
What You’ll Do
As a Print Production Specialist, you’ll help produce a wide variety of custom products from start to finish.
Depending on your training and the day’s production schedule, you may:
- Produce custom T-shirts, apparel and other decorated garments
- Operate DTF printing and heat-transfer equipment
- Operate DTG printers
- Screen print apparel using a manual screen printing press
- Operate heat presses
- Cut, weed, mask and apply vinyl graphics
- Produce decals, banners and other large-format printed products
- Operate wide-format printers and vinyl cutters/plotters
- Assist with embroidery production
- Operate CO2 and fiber laser engraving equipment
- Operate rotary engraving equipment
- Produce and finish digital paper-printing projects
- Use cutters, folders, laminators and other print-finishing equipment
- Load and unload garments, substrates and materials
- Measure and accurately position graphics on garments and products
- Review work orders and follow job specifications
- Inspect finished products for print quality, placement, color, spelling and other details
- Package and prepare completed orders
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance
- Troubleshoot minor production problems
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe production area
- Occasionally assist with installation of window graphics, decals or other vinyl products
You’ll Be Cross-Trained
One of the things that makes this position different from many production jobs is the variety.
Gateway produces products using multiple processes, including:
- DTF printing and heat transfers
- DTG printing
- Screen printing
- Embroidery
- Vinyl cutting and application
- Wide-format digital printing
- Laser and rotary engraving
- Digital paper printing
- Print finishing
- Sublimation
- UV printing and other specialty production methods
You aren’t expected to know all of these when you start.
We’ll train you based on your experience, ability and the needs of the production team. Over time, our goal is for production team members to understand multiple areas of the shop so they can move between processes and help keep work flowing efficiently.
If you enjoy learning how machines work and figuring out how things are made, you’ll probably enjoy this job.
Quality Matters
Most of what we make is custom. That means there often isn’t another one sitting on a shelf if something goes wrong.
Attention to detail is extremely important.
You’ll be expected to check work orders, measurements, quantities, colors, print quality, placement and finished products throughout the production process.
We don’t expect perfection from someone learning a new process. We do expect you to care about your work, ask questions and speak up when something doesn’t look right.
Experience
Experience in any of the following is helpful:
- Print production
- Screen printing
- DTF or DTG apparel printing
- Heat pressing
- Embroidery
- Sign production
- Vinyl graphics or vinyl application
- Wide-format printing
- Laser engraving
- Digital printing
- Print finishing
- Machine operation
- Manufacturing or production
- Quality control
No previous print-industry experience is required for the right candidate.
If you are mechanically inclined, artistic, crafty, comfortable with computers, experienced with production equipment or simply enjoy making things, we encourage you to apply.
Physical Requirements
This is an active production position.
You must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday
- Regularly bend, reach and perform repetitive production tasks
- Safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed
- Use your hands for detailed production and finishing work
- Accurately distinguish colors and notice small visual differences
