Young Lives Coordinator

The Young Lives Coordinator serves in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures established by mission leadership to develop and sustain Young Lives ministries in the respective areas. The role requires a personal commitment to Christ and the ability to lead teams, manage resources, and engage in outreach activities.

Job Specific Working Conditions

10 hours per week for the first 3 months, then 20 hours per week if fundraising goals are met. Personal support goal of $1,000 per month.

Essential Duties

  • Spiritual Development
    • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life.
    • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, including active participation in a church community.
    • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
    • Ensure all Young Life ministry in the area is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer.
  • Leadership Development
    • Recruit, care for, and train mentors, childcare, and other volunteer leaders.
    • Attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned.
    • Assist in training committee, mentors, childcare, and other volunteers to work effectively in teams.
    • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
    • Train and lead a team of mentors, childcare, and other volunteers in developing a yearly ministry strategy.
  • Resource Development
    • Plan and execute fundraising events under direction of the area supervisor.
    • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
    • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
    • Develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, such as principals, pastors, parents, and potential committee members.
    • Partner with the area director to build a sub‑committee for Young Lives.
    • Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers, and other community organizations.
  • Direct Ministry
    • Conduct contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp activities.
    • Lead a team to plan and implement regular outreach meetings with excellence.
    • Lead Campaigners meetings with excellence as assigned.
    • Lead a team to implement a summer and school‑season camping strategy for Young Lives.
    • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp or property each year.
  • Ministry Support
    • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
    • Adhere to Young Life policies, including health and safety.
    • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
    • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
    • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to all stakeholders.
    • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid; review them regularly.
    • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
    • Accept short‑ and long‑term assignments of projects.

Training & Education

Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate. Core training includes:
– Attend Young Lives trainings as directed by the regional or divisional coordinator.
– Participate in a mission‑wide staff conference every four years.
– Engage in additional training as deemed necessary (e.g., urban exposure, TDS training).
– Pursue continuing educational opportunities, including graduate degrees.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • Clear communication of Young Life’s mission and vision for Young Lives.
  • Understanding of unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting teen moms.
  • Proven relational skills with adolescents and adults.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self‑motivated and goal‑oriented.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • College degree preferred.
