Eat Play Learn Nature Ambassador
15-20 hours per week
$25 per hour
4 positions, 16 weeks (June-Sept.)
Participating in trainings conducted by Nature Specialist, Summer and After Schools Meals Program and any other relatable trainings deemed necessary to complete job duties as assigned.
Conceptualizing long term project that increase interest, access and engagement of youth in the natural world (outdoor classrooms, outdoor adventures, nature-based playgrounds).
Planning, participating and facilitating Community Outreach Efforts in collaboration with NE stakeholders (Earth Day, EPL Launch, Summer Meals Kick-Off).
Planning, participating and facilitating community outreach efforts for youth in partnership with Providence Urban Wildlife Partnership and other community partners.
Organizing feedback and suggestions and report finding to direct reports and NE stakeholders, with summaries, recommendations and proposals for next steps.
Utilizing various youth-focused communication strategies to increase awareness and participation in events (social media, in-person, surveys, videos, etc.).
Producing a Youth Outdoor Bill of Rights based on community outreach interactions and feedback.
Qualifications
Passionate and curious about nature, outdoor recreation, climate resiliency, education.
Able to work well on both team and independent projects.
Strong leadership skills for guiding and empowering youth.
Confidence in public speaking, leading community meeting and encouraging collective conversation.
Bilingual Preferred.
Ability to transport bins of materials to and from work site on a daily basis.
Experience
Knowledge and appreciation of social, environmental justice, equity and inclusion best practices and the benefits of access to nature and outdoor recreation in mental and physical well being.
Youth engagement, leadership development, coaching, camp counselor or related experience.
Community outreach, civic engagement, public speaking, marketing, large and small event planning.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Canva and Excel.
