Role Description The Planned & Major Gifts Officer is a full-time, hybrid role based Minnesota. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors and prospects to secure planned and major gifts in support of True Friends’ mission. Day-to-day tasks include managing a portfolio of donors, conducting prospect meetings, preparing proposals and gift agreements, and coordinating personalized engagement strategies. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams on fundraising campaigns, maintaining accurate donor records, and providing regular progress reports. The Planned & Major Gifts Officer will represent True Friends at events and meetings, ensuring a high level of donor care and alignment with organizational values.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in planned giving and philanthropy, with the ability to secure and manage complex gifts.
  • Background in annual giving and alumni relations, including relationship-building with individuals and community groups.
  • Strong prospect research skills to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential donors.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute donor engagement strategies, including personalized outreach and stewardship plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program, marketing, and leadership teams while maintaining donor confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as nonprofit management, communications, business, or similar) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous fundraising or development experience in a nonprofit setting, especially in disability services or human services, is beneficial.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of True Friends, and comfort engaging with individuals of all abilities in program and event settings.
