Role Description
The Executive Director of the GW Heart and Vascular Institute will play a critical role in securing funding, managing financial operations, and fostering community partnerships to drive the institute’s mission. This position is highly grant-driven, requiring a strong track record in writing grants, securing funding opportunities, and managing financial resources to support research, education, and outreach programs.
Key responsibilities include:
Grant Writing & Fundraising – Identify, apply for, and secure grants and funding opportunities to expand programs and research.
Community Engagement & Partnerships – Build relationships with organizations, donors, and community stakeholders to support heart health initiatives.
Financial & Budget Management – Work closely with GW MFA and GW University to ensure financial accuracy, monitor budgets, and oversee fund allocation.
Strategic Program Development – Support and expand initiatives focused on cardiovascular health, prevention, and education in the DC metro area.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight – Ensure programs meet non-profit, academic, and healthcare compliance standards.
This role does not have direct reports but requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to drive funding efforts independently.
Qualifications
Proven success in grant writing and securing funding for healthcare, academic, or nonprofit programs.
Strong budget management and financial oversight experience, particularly in a non-profit or academic setting.
Ability to cultivate community relationships and partnerships to drive awareness and funding efforts.
Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
Knowledge of cardiovascular health initiatives is a plus.
Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
