Patient Care Technician – General Internal Medicine – Days/Evening
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is ranked the nation’s top hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals.” As a Magnet Recognized Hospital, we have a community of nearly 3,000 professional nurses who provide our patients with excellent oncology nursing care.
A 25-bed medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 – 95. Four monitored beds are designated for melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma, cervical, ovarian, thoracic and pancreatic cancer patients receiving high-dose bolus interleukin-2 and/or targeted cellular therapy requiring cardiac monitoring. Primary populations treated include: melanoma, sarcoma and GI patients receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens and all solid tumor cancer patients receiving immune effector cell therapy.
Essential Job Functions: Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: None
Highly prefer: At least 1 year of Healthcare experience
