Mars Hill Baptist Church is searching for a bi-vocational pastor who is led by God and committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. He will agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and will lead our church on the strong foundations of biblical authority. We desire a man who is being transformed by God’s Word himself, as he leads our congregation to be transformed by God’s Word as well.
He will be a text-driven preacher of the biblical text. He will be able to relate to the congregation in his delivery of the message, and firm in his conviction.
Our next pastor will lead the spiritual growth of the church. He will be easily approachable and skilled in relationship building. He will make biblical decisions concerning the direction of the church and communicate them with grace while leading gently over time. He will have a vision for our church, and a heart for evangelism and church growth. He will value the insight of long-time members of the church but not cater to any one person or group’s desire to the neglect of another’s.
He will put God first, family second, and the church third. We desire a pastor who models faithful leadership in the home and allows that to overflow into his leadership at church.
He will have 5 years or more of experience as an ordained pastor in a Southern Baptist Church. We prefer that he be married, with a high school diploma and some seminary training is preferred. His primary talents and responsibilities should be in this order: (1) Pastoral Care, (2) Preaching, and (3) Administration.

Mars Hill Baptist Church of Jemison, Alabama, is a loving Southern Baptist Church. We are a family of believers who love God and long to bring others to faith in Jesus Christ. We value Biblical teaching and meaningful worship.
Our church is located in Chilton County, Alabama, which is a rural area with approximately 15% of our citizens living in poverty. Our vision is to reach the unchurched and unsaved in our community. The mission field around us is wide open.
In the past 20 years, we’ve seen averages of over 100 in Sunday School. But since 2020, we have experienced a decline in attendance, with an average now of 45 to 50 in Sunday School. Our Sunday morning worship service currently averages 65 to 70 in attendance.
We have members of all ages, beginning in our nursery through senior adults. Most of our members are in the 55+ age group, and our smallest groups are young adults, teens, and children.
We are seeking the pastor that God will send to lead us in His ministry.
