Position Overview

LayeRhythm Productions, Inc., a nonprofit organization celebrating the artistry of street and club

dance alongside live music, seeks a dedicated Part-Time General Manager to join our team.

This position is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our growing organization and

supporting our mission to highlight under-recognized artistic voices.

The ideal candidate is an organized, self-motivated professional with experience in nonprofit

management, performing arts, or event production. They will oversee key administrative and

operational aspects of the organization, working closely with the Executive/Artistic Director — the

primary supervisor for this role — and interfacing with the Board of Directors as needed,

including the opportunity to attend board meetings.

This is a salaried part-time position at 20 hours per week, compensated at $35/hour

($2,800/month), subject to a 6-month trial period to ensure mutual fit.

Key Responsibilities

1. Event & Program Support

• Provide back-end logistical support for events, workshops, and performances.

• Supervise the Production Coordinator in supporting artists, partners, volunteers, and

stakeholders.

2. Operational Management

• Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring organizational efficiency.

• Manage communication across platforms (Slack, Master Tour, WhatsApp, Linkt.ree,

email, etc.).

• Coordinate meetings via Zoom and Google Meet and manage calendar scheduling.

• Maintain and organize files across Google Drive and Dropbox.

3. Project & Workflow Management

• Use Notion and/or other workflow tools to monitor project timelines, delegate tasks, and

track progress.

• Develop and refine workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Assist in the preparation, signing, tracking, and organization of contracts.

• Support the Grant Writer and ED/AD with documentation and data tracking for grant

reporting.

4. Financial Oversight

• Upload and track statements, invoices, and receipts to Google Drive.

• Process reimbursements and payments through Chase Bank.

• Liaison with bookkeeper/financial manager to insure accuracy of accounting.

• Support the ED in managing budgets and financial reporting.

• Track expenses and ensure compliance with organizational financial policies.

5. Grant Writing Oversight

• Track grant deadlines and send reminders to the Grant Writer and ED/AD.

• Research grant opportunities — what to apply for and when.

• Track report due dates for each awarded grant.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years of administrative or operational management experience in a

small business or nonprofit setting. Arts or events experience is a plus.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, Mailchimp,

AirTable, Linktree, Meta, Zapier, and YouTube. Experience with social media platforms and

design tools is highly desirable.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural humility and

the ability to engage respectfully across diverse backgrounds.

Organization: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Tech-Savvy: Comfortable learning and using new technologies to improve efficiency (AI tools,

cloud storage, etc.).

Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC’s cultural and performing arts scene, especially street and

club dance, is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Work Environment

Remote-first position with weekly in-person meetings and event support primarily in Brooklyn,

with occasional events elsewhere in NYC. LayeRhythm sometimes produces out-of-town

events, though travel is not an expectation of this role. Some evening and weekend availability

is required; candidates should be comfortable taking the NYC subway at night. Candidates must

have access to and be willing to use their own reliable internet connection, computer, and cell

phone for work purposes.
