The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable part-time Bookkeeper to join our team. As Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the museum, supporting accurate reporting and smooth day-to-day financial operations. This position offers a flexible, part-time opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a vibrant arts organization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process deposits, including Museum and Foundation funds
  • Oversee accounts payable and ensure timely payment of museum expenses
  • Reconcile and generate timely monthly reports for payment platforms, including Stripe and Square
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supporting documentation in accordance with museum practices and deadlines
  • Generate and file annual 1099 forms for subcontractors
  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts
  • Manage and maintain financial records in QuickBooks Online
  • Coordinate financial documentation and organization using Google Drive

Other Duties:

  • Assist with financial preparation for audits, grants, and reporting requirements
  • Support the Executive Director with financial tracking and reporting as needed
  • Ensure accurate and organized record-keeping in alignment with nonprofit standards (GAAP)
  • Collaborate with staff on financial aspects of events, programs, and operations
  • Additional bookkeeping-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience with bookkeeping or financial management and familiarity with GAAP
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with Google Drive 
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations is preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage team members and answer inquiries
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills, including email correspondence, point-of-sale systems, and record-keeping
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lift and handle light materials (up to 25 lbs) as required

Salary Range:

Hourly wage of $28.00 – $33.00 for up to 40 hours per month.

This is an on-site, part-time position. Benefits include access to a SIMPLE IRA matching plan.
