As a Dance Instructor at Serious Fun, you will lead children in engaging, hands-on exploration of dance through various styles and techniques, including ballet, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, and tap. You will help students develop original choreographies while teaching confidence, rhythm, and stage presence. Ensuring the safety and well-being of each student on and off the stage is a top priority. Through positive teaching styles and encouragement, you will guide and empower students. You will develop quarterly lesson plans and be supported in the classroom by a Group Teacher. The Enrichment Dance Instructor is supervised by and reports directly to the Multi-Site Director, Programming.

What You’ll Do
As a Dance Instructor at Serious Fun, you will lead children in engaging, hands-on exploration of dance through various styles and techniques, including ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary. You will help students develop original choreographies while teaching confidence, rhythm, and stage presence. Ensuring the safety and well-being of each student on and off the stage is a top priority. Through positive teaching styles and encouragement, you will guide and empower students. You will develop quarterly lesson plans and be supported in the classroom by a Group Teacher. The Enrichment Dance Instructor is supervised by and reports directly to the Multi-Site Director, Programming.
You will:
Create engaging activities that foster the development of new skills in children, while building on prior knowledge.
Ensure that classroom guidelines are fair, clear, and easy to understand.
Design the physical layout of your class (within the space available) that best supports positive behavior.
Confidently model positive behavioral management skills for the Group Teacher supporting you.
Ensure the safety and security of all participants while in your classroom and during transitions.
Assist your Serious Fun colleagues in the smooth operation of the program, lending a helping hand when needed, especially during transitions.
Complete 15 hours of professional development each calendar year, as well as attend all meetings, training workshops, and special events (maximum four (4) per quarter) as required.
Complete background checks, fingerprints, medical, etc. as required by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS).
Who You Are
You believe in our Vision, Mission, and Values.
You have either:
A Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Fine Arts, or related field; OR
An Associate’s degree in Education, Early Childhood with certification in related field; OR
A High School Diploma with certification in related field and demonstrated minimum of 2 year’s experience facilitating in related field.

MUST HAVE AVAILABILTY TO WORK 2-6 TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 7 – 10 per week
