Full Job Description

This position supports the mission of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The instructor leads group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming environment for individuals of all fitness and skill levels. They foster a sense of community within the class and adapt instruction to accommodate varying health conditions, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

Leads safe, fun, and educational group classes aligned with YMCA goals.

Supports members’ health goals by answering questions and offering guidance.

Maintains knowledge of Parkinson’s Disease and available resources.

Builds authentic relationships to foster community and support.

Adapts instruction based on participants’ needs and abilities.

Recognizes and celebrates members’ personal and program achievements.

Records and maintains accurate class attendance.

Follows YMCA policies and responds appropriately to emergencies.

Keeps program areas clean, organized, and safe.

Ensures equipment is working; reports issues and follows up within 24 hours.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

2–3 years of experience in fitness, health education, or instruction.

Group Exercise certification preferred.

Holds or is eligible for CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen, and BBP certifications.
