Position Title: Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) Site Coordinator

Assignment: Part-time; approximately 25–30 hours per weeks. Heavier evening hours during the 20+ week training cycle, lighter weeks when outside the training cycle.
Compensation: $35 per hour, up to a maximum amount of $30,625.
Reports To: SPEF’s CEO.
Works in Partnership With: The CWCSEO PLTI State Director on program fidelity, weekly Technical Assistance, and certification.

Employment relationship: SPEF is the sponsoring organization for Stamford PLTI and the Site Coordinator’s employer. SPEF hires, supervises, evaluates, and sets the terms of this position. The PLTI State Director is not the Site Coordinator’s supervisor, but partners with the Site Coordinator to uphold the fidelity and quality to the statewide PLTI model, and is available as a resource for guidance, troubleshooting, and support.
About PLTI
The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a family civics initiative of the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity (CWCSEO). Participants become advocates for children through a community-building retreat, a 20+ week instructional course on personal development, community leadership, and civics, and a culminating community project. Through PLTI, participants practice communication and public speaking, learn to analyze budgets, policy, and law, and build the skills to work effectively within civic and political systems.
Position Summary
The Site Coordinator provides leadership and local guidance for the planning and implementation of PLTI, serving as the “community face and voice” of the initiative. They understand PLTI as a civics initiative and community-builder, and model that commitment throughout the role. This person manages the day-to-day operations and logistics of the initiative and works cooperatively with the Facilitation Team, the Civic Design Team (CDT), the Sponsoring Organization, and the CWCSEO PLTI State Director to ensure the program is delivered with fidelity to the model. The role combines two closely linked areas of work: running the operations and logistics of each cohort and serving as the central point of coordination among everyone involved in delivering the initiative. A new Site Coordinator must be interviewed and are required to attend National PLTI Training to be certified in the role. If a candidate is hired after a National PLTI Training has already taken place for the year, the PLTI State Director will provide provisional certification through additional meetings and technical assistance, with the expectation that the Site Coordinator will attend the next available training.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations & Logistics
- Be present at the retreat, all sessions, and local (and state, if applicable) graduations.
- Organize all site logistics for the class: site selection, food, and childcare (or Children’s Leadership Training Institute).
- Order and bill for food and purchases of supplies for the retreat, sessions, graduation, and Civic Design Team and alumni meetings and events.
- Maintain accurate records of facilitator hours and ensure their submission of invoices.
- Maintain accurate records and coordinate the PLTI budget with the Sponsoring Organization.
- Prepare and have class materials ready at each session and maintain accurate records of attendance and work submission of participants; and maintain accurate records of facilitator hours and responsibilities.
- Distribute and collect pre/post participant surveys and session evaluation, ensuring data collection to inform future work and continuous improvement of the initiative.
- Maintain and submit accurate PLTI participant records to the State Director within required timelines.
- Coordinate the logistics of local graduations, including, but not limited to transportation, guest invitations, and food.
- Invite and confirm guest speakers and send thank-you letters.
- Coordinate Civic Design Team meetings and alumni events in collaboration with Civic Design Team members, Sponsoring Organization, and/or PLTI State Director.
- Draft and send communications with relevant information or resources to the to various audiences, including but not limited to the cohort, alumni, Civic Design Team, Sponsoring Organization, and/or PLTI State Director.
Facilitator, Participant & Partner Coordination
- Understand PLTI as a civics initiative and community-builder, and model that commitment throughout the role.
- Lead outreach, recruitment, and interviewing of a diverse applicant pool for each new cohort, in partnership with the Civic Design Team, Sponsoring Organization, and/or State Director.
- Participate in required weekly Technical Assistance (TA) sessions with the PLTI State Director and Facilitation Team to debrief and prepare upcoming sessions.
- Participate in bi-weekly Statewide Site Coordinator meetings led by the PLTI State Director.
- Provide support and resources to the Facilitation Team, before and during sessions, and step in as necessary during sessions.
- Serve as the primary liaison among class participants, the Facilitation Team, the Civic Design Team, the Sponsoring Organization, the local Alumni Association, and the PLTI State Director.
- Provide technical assistance to PLTI participants developing their community projects.
- Work with the Civic Design Team to build and sustain community partnerships that make PLTI a sustainable local initiative, including recruitment and fundraising support, in collaboration with the Sponsoring Organization.
- Address conflicts as they arise and take a leadership role in seeking resolution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Time Commitment
Approximately 50 hours per month September to December and 25–30 hours per week January-mid-June. During weeks when class is not in session, time is spent reporting results, supporting the local PLTI Alumni Association and Civic Design Team meetings, building stakeholder relationships, recruiting for the coming cohort, and supporting fundraising for cohort and alumni events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in project management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple logistics simultaneously.
- Experience in event planning, community engagement, and/or supervising or coaching teams.
- A genuine commitment to parent leadership, racial equity, and civic engagement.
- Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with fund development (grant writing, direct marketing, fundraising campaigns) is a plus, but not required.
- Bilingual candidates (Spanish preferred) encouraged to apply.
- Preference given to PLTI alumni and/or current Civic Design Team members.
Certification
New Site Coordinators are required to attend National PLTI Training to be certified in the role. Attendance at National PLTI Training does not guarantee certification. If a candidate is hired after a national PLTI Training has already taken place for the year, the PLTI State Director will provide provisional certification through additional meetings and Technical Assistance, with the expectation that the Site Coordinator will attend the next available training.
