Position Summary
The Overnight Monitor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of youth and community members during overnight hours. This position requires a calm, observant, and dependable individual who can manage late-night activity, respond to incidents with professionalism, and maintain a welcoming environment for all.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and supervise the facility during overnight hours, including common areas, and outdoor perimeters.
Conduct routine safety and security checks throughout the shift.
Maintain a visible presence to deter unsafe behavior and promote a peaceful atmosphere.
Respond to conflicts, emergencies, or disturbances in accordance with center policies and protocols.
Document all overnight activities, incidents, and observations in detailed shift reports.
Support participants in need, offering de-escalation, crisis intervention, or referrals as appropriate.
Enforce center rules and expectations in a fair, trauma-informed, and respectful manner.
Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the facility for morning operations.
Communicate with day staff and supervisors regarding any concerns or follow-up needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; relevant college coursework or certifications (e.g., crisis intervention, de-escalation training) a plus.
Experience working with youth, vulnerable populations, or in a residential or community-based setting preferred.
Ability to stay alert and engaged throughout overnight shifts.
Strong observational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Must pass a background check and any other required clearances.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to remain awake and attentive for the full duration of overnight shifts.
Regular walking and patrolling throughout the facility.
Occasional lifting/moving of items up to 25 lbs.
Exposure to potentially stressful situations requiring a calm and controlled response.
