Overnight Lodgings Associate
Summary/Purpose of Position: The role of the Overnight Lodgings Associate is to be responsible for checking in late arrivals, maintain guest safety during overnight hours and providing staff assistance to guests who stay overnight at any of the overnight lodging facilities located on the property. This position is responsible for being informed of all appropriate safety and procedural information in event of an after-hours emergency or severe weather situation. The role includes answering guest questions about Fossil Rim and its history, animal collection and conservation projects.
Description of Position: The responsibilities of the Overnight Associate include but are not limited to the following:
Provide excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone, demonstrating professionalism, helpfulness, product knowledge, and efficiency.
Engage with all guests that enter the Lodge and greet or assist as needed. Be willing to assist guests at any hour of the night.
Understand all FR emergency plans and contingencies and be able to react to emergencies with little backup immediately available.
Exhibit proficiency using a point-of-sale system to both take guest reservations over the phone as well as for a small storefront.
This position will need to take a Food Handlers certification course. If you don’t have a certificate already, Fossil Rim will provide this certification.
Provide and receive shift reports at beginning and end of shifts with incoming/outgoing staff.
Complete weekly checklists and carry out other duties as assigned.
Maintain updated knowledge on special events, new animal information, special attractions, and basic operations of Fossil Rim.
Provide feedback and reports to Supervisor/Director as required.
Able to clean guest rooms when no housekeeper is on duty and assist housekeeper when possible. Assist with laundry as assigned.
Experience and Qualities Required:
Demonstrated ability to provide professional, friendly, and helpful customer service to guests and staff, with strong organizational and communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
Strong customer service and sales skills both in person and by telephone.
Ability to communicate and interact well with other staff, respectful of supervisors, and showing trust and respect for others in the guest services area.
Neat, clean and tidy personal appearance and attire. Uniform standard as assigned by management (clean and proper appearance a must)
Punctual and dependable according to duty schedule, but flexible when required as duties can be varied.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, be resourceful, and have a calm and organized demeanor.
Work Requirements:
Up to a 29-hour week requiring flexibility. Candidate must be available to work on weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to climb multiple stairs.
Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and laundry machinery.
